Storylines – vs Anderson
No. 13 Anderson will attempt to rebound from Wednesday's 70-58 defeat at No. 23 Catawba. The Trojans have not lost back-to-back games all season and have not lost consecutive South Atlantic Conference games since the 2017-18 season. The team is led by senior forward Alexy Mollenhauer who is averaging a league-leading 19.4 points per game. The post player can also step out and shoot the three as she is averaging 2.6 made 3-point field goals per game while connecting on 43.1 percent of her 3-point field goal attempts. Anderson has the league's best scoring defense, holding opponents to 46.8 points per game and they do it without fouling. The Trojans have committed the fewest fouls in the country averaging just 13.5 fouls per contest. Anderson won the first meeting 64-62 despite Mollenhauer having one of the worst games of her career. The forward was held to just three points on 0-of-8 shooting in 32 minutes of play. Wednesday's loss dropped Anderson to a second place tie in the league standings, coach McKenzie Clarey's team is now a game back of Catawba for first place.

Caitlyn Ross picked up her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 assists. Ross is in the midst one of the best freshman seasons in school history. Entering play Saturday, the Kingston, Tenn. native is the only freshman in the country regardless of division who has at least 230 points, 100 assists, 70 rebounds and 50 steals. Ross is on pace to break the single-season assist record of 155 at UVA Wise, she currently ranks fourth among all NCAA Divsion II players in assists per game at 6.5 while ranking 20th nationally in steals per game at 2.9 per contest. Kalee Johnson is also coming off a big performance as she netted 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting against Carson-Newman. An area to watch Saturday could be the rebounding battle, Anderson won the battle of the boards 48-to-28 in the first meeting as the Trojans grabbed 20 offensive rebounds in the road win. Following the game, UVA Wise will wrap up its three-game road trip with a trip to Mars Hill Wednesday.
