WISE – Women's tennis posted its first sweep of the fall Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Johnson University – Tennessee at the Jim and Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex.
Sophomores Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko each posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Senior Aya Melhem and sophomore Grace Hall also recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps over their opponents at the No. 3 and No. 4 position, respectively.
Freshman Megan Harwood won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 while sophomore Olivia Dishner won her match, 6-1,6-1, at No. 6 for the Cavs.
Liza and Katya Akimenko registered their second victories of the day at No. 1 in doubles, topping their opponents 6-1. Hall and Harwood swept their opponents, 6-0, at No.2 while Melhem and sophomore Lillian Morris came out on top with a 6-2 victory at No. 3.
Head coach Danny Rowland's team will return to action on the road tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match at Berea College.
