BRISTOL, Tenn. - - The UVa-Wise men's golf team finished seventh in the King University Invitational hosted by the Bristol Country Club with a team score of 609. King took home the team title with a score of 555 while the Tornado also had the individual champion as Leonardo Rigamonti fired a 137 to take medalist honors.
Bryce Varner led Davis Absher's squad as he finished tied for 11th after shooting a 72 on both days to tally a 144. Alex Arnold tied for 29th as his 74 on day two propelled the redshirt junior to a 152, Hunter Farley shaved three strokes off his day one score of 79 to shoot a 155 finishing in a tie for 36th, freshman Evan Blanton shot a 78 on day one to post a 158 finishing in a tie for 38th place and Jacob Sowers shot an 80 on back-to-back days to finish tied for 41st with a score of 160.
The men's golf team will be back in action this weekend at the Shriners Hospital for Children Intercollegiate at the Riverside Golf Course in Mason, W.Va.
