WISE - - Due to heavy rain and Easter Sunday, the four game baseball series between Charleston and UVa-Wise was delayed three days and will conclude Monday with a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Stallard Field.
The first place Golden Eagles scored a 10-1 win in game one of the series as the guests scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings to win the series opener. UVa-Wise responded with a 6-1 win in game two as redshirt senior Landon Faulkner tossed a complete game five hitter. Junior Tristan Peccerelli belted a pair of homers in the win, including a sixth inning grand slam.

- UVa-Wise enters the doubleheader 14-8 in MEC play, the Cavs are in a tie for second place in the South Division and stand a game up of West Virginia State for the final MEC Tournament spot.
- Junior Tyler Blaum is on a four-game hitting streak. The catcher is 6-for-13 during the stretch with a homer, three doubles, three runs scored and three RBI.
- Fifth year senior Brett Yates is also on a four-game hitting streak. The outfielder is 6-for-12 during the spurt and recently became just the 10th player in school history to reach 170 career hits.
- The Cavs enter the doubleheader as the league leader and rank 48th nationally in strike out to walk ratio as a pitching staff. UVa-Wise is posting 2.26 strike outs to every walk issued.
- As a staff, UVa-Wise has struck out 242 hitters to date, the number is the most for the program since making the move to NCAA Division II and ranks ninth all-time in program history.

- With 10 games to play in the MEC season, Charleston holds a five game lead over second place UVa-Wise and Charleston. The Golden Eagles could clinch the regular season title as early as this weekend with a perfect week.
- The Golden Eagles lead the league and rank 11th nationally in stolen bases per game at 2.45. Charleston has three of the league's top five base stealers, including the top two in Jordan Bailey (18) and Gianfranco Morello (17).
- Senior Jack Brunetti has doubled as a first baseman and weekend starter on the mound for Charleston. At the plate, Brunetti is hitting .341 with 35 RBI; on the mound, he has posted a 6-1 record with a 3.93 ERA.
