WINCHESTER, Va. - - The Cavaliers wrapped up their weekend road trip on Sunday morning with a 5-2 win at Millersville University.
In doubles play, freshmen Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko teamed up for a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 position. Senior Montana Hill and freshman Lillian Morris were defeated 6-0 at the No. 2 position, but junior Aya Melhem and freshman Grace Hall won the No. 3 position 6-4 to give the Cavaliers the doubles point.
Liza Akimenko started off singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 1 position for her ninth win in her last 10 matches. Katya Akimenko won at the No. 2 position by a 6-1, 6-1 score, while Melhem took the No. 3 position 6-4, 6-3. Hill was defeated 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 4 position, and freshman Olivia Dishner fell 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 5 position, but Hall was able to snap a five-match losing streak with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 position.
The Cavaliers return to Wise on Wednesday afternoon when they host King University at 4. They will then host Salem University on Saturday at 12 p.m. for Senior Day.
