HARROGATE, Tenn. - - The Cavaliers were unable to record back-to-back wins on Sunday afternoon as they dropped a road match at Lincoln Memorial University 6-1.
The freshman duo of Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko won their third doubles match in a row and improved to 5-2 as a pair this season after defeating junior Johanna Delisse and sophomore Kristin Vogel 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles position. The Railsplitters would go on to take the doubles point however, as junior Aya Melhem and freshman Grace Hall fell 6-1 at the No. 2 position and freshmen Olivia Dishner and Lillian Morris dropped the No. 3 position 6-0.
Liza Akimenko earned the Cavaliers' only point of the day with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 singles position. Katya Akimenko dropped the No. 2 position 6-1, 6-0 while Melhem fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 position. Hall and Dishner both fell 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday when they host Mountain East Conference rival West Liberty University at 12 p.m.
