WISE - - UVA Wise senior women's basketball player Cynita Webb has been named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for her performance in a pair of games last week. In an 87-64 win over Mars Hill University, Webb netted 22 points while grabbing 14 rebounds before she posted 10 points and eight rebounds in a 64-62 loss to No. 17 Anderson University.

For the week, Webb averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds while making 13-of-22 field goal attempts. Her most impressive feat of the week may have been on the defensive end as she limited reigning SAC and Southeast Region Player of the Year Anderson's Alexy Mollenhauer to three points on 0-of-8 shooting.

This season, Webb is averaging a team-high 18.5 points per game while also leading the team with 12.3 rebounds per contest. The Virginia Beach, Va. product has four double-doubles this season while having accumulated 30 over her career. To date, she has registered 907 points and 744 rebounds and is on pace to become the first women's basketball player in the NCAA Division II era of the school to reach both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

With the award, Webb becomes the first women's basketball player to be named SAC Player of the Week since the school joined the league in July. It is the second conference player of the week award for the forward. A year ago, she earned Mountain East Conference Player of the Week.

Webb and her teammates will be back in action at home Wednesday when Bluefield State visits the Prior Center for a 5:30 p.m. tip in non-conference action.
