WINGATE, N.C. – The Cavaliers fell to the Bulldogs of Wingate University on the road Friday night, 3-0 (25-15, 25-6, 25-8). Redshirt senior Ciara Kain notched her 1,000th career kill during Friday night's match.

Wingate (25-1, 18-1 SAC) jumped out to an 8-1 advantage early in the opening set as the Cavaliers (1-23, 0-19 SAC) called a timeout. The Bulldogs later gained a double-digit, 18-8, lead on a service ace before taking the first set over UVa-Wise, 25-15.

Another fast start for the Bulldogs put UVa-Wise down 16-2 in the second set as the Cavs struggled to get in rhythm. Wingate continued to dominate the frame as the Cavs fell in the second set, 25-6.

UVa-Wise trailed early, 10-2, in the final set as the Cavs called another timeout. The Bulldogs went ahead by double-digits once more in the third set as Wingate maintained its lead. UVa-Wise dropped the third set to the Bulldogs as Wingate earned a sweep over UVa-Wise.

Kain led the Cavs with seven kills as she recorded her 1,000th kill in the loss. Senior Morgan Milligan dished out a team-high 13 assists and added seven digs while fellow senior Briana Kerr registered 11 digs in the match. Sophomore Matelyn Gibson also recorded seven digs while she and freshman Meagan Blagg each posted three kills on the night.

Coach Salyer's team returns to action tomorrow at Coker University for a 2 p.m. first serve.
