HARROGATE, Tenn. – UVa-Wise volleyball suffered a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-15) road loss at Lincoln Memorial University Saturday afternoon.

UVa-Wise (1-22, 0-18 SAC) trailed to open the first set but managed to come back and knot the first frame. LMU used a 5-0 run to take the lead as the Cavs called a timeout. The Railsplitters pulled ahead to a double-digit advantage later in the set as LMU went on to claim a 25-14 victory.

Lincoln Memorial (8-18, 7-11 SAC) jumped out to an 11-4 lead before gaining another double-digit advantage, 17-7, later in the second set. The Railsplitters stayed on top of the Cavs, taking the second set 25-16.

Another fast start for the Railpslitters put UVa-Wise down 11-5 before back-to-back blocks for the Cavaliers cut the deficit. LMU went ahead by eight points later in the set, forcing a Cavalier timeout. The Cavs attempted to chip away at the Railsplitters lead, but were unable to come back as LMU won the third set, 25-15.

Redshirt senior Ciara Kain and freshman Meagan Blagg powered the offense as Kain posted eight kills with a .412 attack percentage while Blagg recorded six kills alongside a .455 hitting percentage.

Senior Morgan Milligan dished out12 assists with nine digs and added two kills and three blocks. Fellow senior Briana Kerr registered a team-high 14 digs and tacked on five assists in the loss.

Head coach Kristen Salyer's team will stay on the road next weekend for a 7 p.m. match at Wingate University Friday and a 2 p.m. contest at Coker University Saturday afternoon.
