WISE – Head coach Kristen Salyer's squad will return to North Carolina this weekend for a pair of matches at Lenoir-Rhyne University and Mars Hill University. UVa-Wise will face the Bears Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Lions Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

About UVa-Wise
- Coach Salyer's team heads to Hickory Friday with a 1-17 overall record and still winless in South Atlantic Conference play. UVa-Wise fell this past Tuesday, 3-0, against Tusculum University inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
- Three players have cracked 100 kills this season led by redshirt senior Ciara Kain who has tallied 153 so far this year. Sophomore Matelyn Gibson has 102 kills followed by junior Brooke Abbott who has registered 100 kills to date.
- Abbott's .223 attack percentage is a team-best and ranks her in the top-20 in the league. Abbott also leads her team with 32 total blocks followed by sophomore Abigail Byington who's notched 20 total blocks this year.
- Senior Morgan Milligan's 256 digs lead UVa-Wise and place her 11th in the category in the conference. Milligan has added 147 assists and team-high 19 service aces in the campaign.
- UVa-Wise will visit Concord University for a non-conference match Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. before returning home for a Friday night match against Carson-Newman set for 7 p.m.
Notes on Lenoir-Rhyne
- Currently fourth in the SAC standings, head coach Dave Markland's team will host UVa-Wise Friday night. Coach Markland's squad enters into Friday's match with a 13-8 overall record, 8-5 in conference. This will be the first home match the Bears have played this month.
- Junior Taylor Prall leads the conference with 275 kills this season. Prall's 3.82 kills per set also lead the conference while her .231 attack percentage ranks her in the top-20 in the league.
- Two players have notched over 200 assists this year led by sophomore Helen Hamilton (299) while freshman Mackenzie Hulsey (276) follows close behind. Senior Selena Scudder has also aided the Bears with 101 assists this season.
- Five players have accumulated over 100 digs for the Bears this season with sophomore Ashley Hawkins (330, fourth in the SAC) and junior Rachel Bewick (204) leading the way. Senior Alexis Ivey's 71 team-leading total blocks this season rank her third in the conference.
- Lenoir-Rhyne will stay at home for a pair of matches against Tusculum Saturday afternoon and Carson-Newman Tuesday night before four-straight road matches to start November.
Notes on Mars Hill
- The Lions host the Cavs Saturday after a Friday night match against Tusculum at home. Mars Hill currently holds a 10-10 overall record, 7-6 SAC record, following a Tuesday night loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-0.
- Head coach Tony Fontanelle's team split last weekend with a road win at Newberry, 3-0, before falling to Anderson, 3-1. The team is currently tied for fifth in the conference with Tusculum.
- Sophomore Sarah Goddard leads Mars Hill in kills with 198 (sixth in the SAC) this season. Senior Sally Anne Johnson sits just behind Goddard with 193 kills (eighth in the SAC) to date. Goddard's 2.79 kills per set place her in the top-10 in the league while Johnson's .315 attack percentage is the sixth-best in the conference.
- Junior Sara Pasour (349) and freshman Jordan Schmucker (343) have combined for nearly 700 assists this season as they rank ninth and 10th in the SAC, respectively. Junior Ully Martins boasts a league-high 422 digs while sophomore Lauren Phillip's 304 digs place her eighth in the conference in the category.
- Coach Fontanelle's squad will stay home to close out October against Lincoln Memorial next Tuesday.
