Katelyn Holley Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

WISE - - Head Volleyball Coach Kristen Salyer announced the hiring of Katelyn Holley to the position of assistant volleyball coach Wednesday morning. A native of Dry Fork, Virginia, Holley most recently served as a graduate assistant volleyball coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.

Prior to attending Lenoir-Rhyne, Holley graduated from Averett University in Danville, Virginia in 2016 where she played volleyball all four years. During her career at Averett, she was a member of two North Division championship teams in the USA South and was named the All-Metro Volleyball Player of the Year by The Danville Register and Bee in 2012. Holley earned USA South Academic All-Conference accolades in both her freshman and junior season and garnered the Outstanding Service and Contribution Award in her senior season at Averett.

Holley has also served as director and camp assistant director of Star Volleyball Services, LLC, in Roanoke, Virginia and worked as the associate head volleyball coach for Burke Elite Volleyball while earning her master's degree at Lenoir-Rhyne.

"I am excited to have someone of Katey's caliber join the UVa-Wise Volleyball program", remarked Head Coach Salyer. "Her background and strong ties in Virginia will help us tremendously with recruiting as well as transitioning into South Atlantic Conference play in 2019."

Holley holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and health from Averett and a master's degree in university leadership from Lenoir-Rhyne.

Volleyball will open its 2018 campaign on the road against Milligan College on Aug. 28 with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
