CHARLESTON, W.Va. - - Mountain East Conference South Division leader University of Charleston claimed a baseball doubleheader sweep of visiting UVa-Wise at Triana Field Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles posted a 6-3 win in the opener before a walk off home run by Colby Johnson gave the hosts a 6-5 win in the finale.

UC used some creative base running in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead as Jesse Elliott took home from first base on a steal attempt, he was thrown out but, not before Hayden Cartt scored from third for the Eagles' fifth run.
Patience at the plate allowed UVa-Wise (14-21) to get back into the game with a three-run fifth inning. UC starter Adam Jafine issued four consecutive walks as part of a five-walk inning for the visitors to cut the deficit to two.
Charleston picked up an insurance run in the sixth on a solo homer off the bat of Steven Davis to provide the final margin of 6-3.

The big inning knocked out UC starter Brandon Harris who recorded just one in the game, forcing Austin Henrich to come in out of the bullpen.
Henrich was masterful out of the pen as he would get out of the inning without allowing a run as part of an appearance that saw him toss 6 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.
Henrich's offense rewarded the reliever with instance offense as a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nick Wilson made it a 5-1 game after an inning.

The error was one of five committed by UVa-Wise in the game, which forced starter RJ Vanvickle to leave the game after four innings due to his pitch count.
UVa-Wise would have a chance to regain the lead in the fourth when Paz and Thomas both reached with one out but, Brock Smith struck out for the second out of the inning before Dawson Cagle lined back to the pitcher to end the inning.
The Cavs threatened again in the sixth with men on the corners with two outs only to see Smith fly out to the wall, ending the inning.
In the seventh, UVa-Wise received a leadoff double by Cagle only to see it quickly erased when pinch runner Zachary Blaeser was thrown out trying to advance to third on a ball in the dirt.
