WISE - - Head Coach Kristen Salyer announced the addition of Mackenzie Heath to the volleyball team Thursday afternoon. The Newport News, Va. product will join the squad for the 2019 season.
A four-year volleyball standout at Summit Christian Academy, the 5-foot-11 middle blocker/outside hitter was a first team all-conference selection each season of her high school career. She was named a captain in both her junior and senior campaigns and earned the conference most valuable player award in her junior year while her team was the runner-up in the tournament championship.
In her final season with the Eagles, Heath's team posted a 12-1 record, winning the tournament championship title for the first time in five years. She was also named the tournament most valuable player in her senior season.
Heath earned the highest academic honors all four years and was also a member of the Coastal Hampton Roads Juniors. Her sophomore year she was awarded the Summit Christian Academy award for character before earning the national distinguished student-athlete award and being named to the National Honor Society in her junior year.
Heath will pursue a degree in nursing when she comes to campus in the fall.
