Cavalier Men Look to Halt Losing Streak



Storylines – vs. Concord University
The Mountain Lions will enter into Saturday afternoon's matchup looking to halt a six-game losing streak. Concord closed out 2017 losing on the road to Akron and were unable to gain a win as the team visited Shepherd and Fairmont State to start 2018. Returning home, the Mountain Lions were edged by No. 19 Wheeling Jesuit, 69-67, and kept it close with then-No. 3 West Liberty, losing by just nine points, 119-110. Capping off their three-game homestand, Concord was routed by the Golden Eagles of Charleston, 82-65. Junior Tommy Bolte led all scorers with 26 points against Charleston, going 3-for-3 from three-point range. In his second season with the team, Todd May's squad is putting up 80.6 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. The Mountain Lions are averaging 37.4 rebounds and 14.3 assists per contest. Bolte leads Concord and the Mountain East Conference in scoring, averaging 31 ppg on 138-for-261 (52.9 percent) shooting from the floor. With 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per contest, Bolte is also the assists and steals leader for the Mountain Lions. Freshman forward Jyles Webster leads the Mountain Lions in rebounding, collecting 6.4 per game. Concord will remain on the road following Saturday's contest as the team heads to Glenville State to take on the Pioneers on Wednesday night.

UVa-Wise extended its losing streak to five on Wednesday night in a tough overtime loss to West Virginia State, edged by the Yellow Jackets 90-88. In the loss, sophomore point guard Michal Seals tied his season-high 26 points as he recorded his first career triple-double alongside 11 assists and a career-high 11 rebounds. Seals' triple-double is the second in David J. Prior Center history. Josh Jordan had the first triple-double against Virginia - Lynchburg on Nov. 28, 2011. Jordan had 25 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks as the Cavaliers won the game 76-67 in OT. Seals continues to lead the Cavaliers and Mountain East Conference in assists, recording 6.9 per game. Redshirt sophomore forward Taiwo Badmus remains the top scorer and for UVa-Wise, averaging 20.1 points per game, and is the rebounding leader with 9.5 boards per contest. So far this season, the Cavs are posting 77.4 points per game, shooting 41.3 percent from the field. The Cavalier men are averaging 39.4 rebounds and 14.1 assists per game while averaging 12.2 turnovers per contest.
