Cavs Host No. 19 Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday

Storylines – vs. No. 19 Wheeling Jesuit University
Fresh off of a close 69-67 win over Concord University on Thursday night, the No. 19 Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit will try to extend a four-game win streak inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon. In Head Coach Danny Sancomb's 10th season with Wheeling, the Cardinals are 12-2 overall and 8-1 in league in play. So far this season Wheeling is outscoring opponents by a +11.5 scoring margin, putting up 81.2 points per game while opponents are posting just 69.7 ppg. The Cardinals have maintained a 46.1 field goal percentage on 391-for-848 shooting and hitting 262-of-364 (72 percent) shots from the free throw line. Per contest, Wheeling is averaging 39.9 rebounds and 15.3 assists, committing just 12.4 turnovers per game. Senior forward Haywood Highsmith leads the Cardinals in scoring with 21.5 ppg on 107-for-189 (56.6 percent) shooting. Highsmith is also the team's top rebounder with 12.8 rebounds per game. Fellow senior forward Pat Moseh is Wheeling's assists leader with 3.7 per game. Moseh was recently recognized as Mountain East Conference Player of the Week following his performances against Charleston and West Virginia State. Against Charleston, Moseh netted a career-high 30 points while narrowly edging a triple-double against the Yellow Jackets, recording a career-high nine assists. The Cardinals will return home for a three game home stand with their first matchup against Notre Dame College on Wednesday inside the Alma Grace McDonough Center.

No. 3 West Liberty routed the Cavalier men on Thursday night, 120-85. The Hilltoppers persistent full-court press and 17-of-37 (45.9 percent) shooting from beyond the arc gave West Liberty a significant margin throughout the contest on the way to the team's 14th consecutive win. After a rough start, the Cavaliers had a better night of shooting from the field, going 17-for-34 (50 percent) in the second half and 28-for-63 (44.4 percent) on the night. UVa-Wise was not as successful from beyond the arc, hitting just four three-point shots in each half. Sophomore guard Chance Sheffey led the pack with a career-high 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting, making a career-high three shots from downtown in the game. Redshirt senior forward Taiwo Badmus collected a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers while sophomore forward Yesid Mosquera-Perea netted 15 points and six boards in the loss. The Cavs will stay put following Saturday's matchup, hosting West Virginia State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Concord on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
