CHARLESTON, W.Va. - - Tori Clark had nine kills and 10 digs to lead the University of Charleston to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-18) Mountain East Conference win over UVa-Wise Saturday afternoon.

Charleston (6-8, 2-0 MEC) pounced on the guests early in the first set as an 8-2 run allowed the Golden Eagles to take a 13-6 lead. UVa-Wise (4-11, 1-3 MEC) never recovered as the team hit just .024 in the opening set.

The Eagles used a similar scoring run to break open the second set. Holding an 8-7 lead, Charleston would go on an 8-1 scoring run to double up the Cavs 16-8. Kristen Salyer's club would answer with five consecutive points of their own as junior Ciara Kain had a pair of kills in the stretch. The rally would be short lived as the Eagles would answer with the set's next four points en route to the 25-20 second set victory.

UVa-Wise would hold a 6-2 lead in the third set only to see Charleston rally back with its third big run of the match. The hosts would score 10 of the next 14 points to take a 12-10 lead. Chloe Massaro would have a kill and one of her match-high four aces in the run. The Cavs would battle back to tie the set at 14-14 before nine consecutive points by the Eagles ended any hope of a comeback.
