WISE, Va. – Cavalier men's basketball returns to the comforts of the David J. Prior Convocation Center after playing six of their last seven games on the road. UVa-Wise faces Glenville State College Saturday at 4 p.m.
Storylines – vs. Glenville State College
The Cavs take on the Pioneers for the second time this season after suffering an 82-74 loss in Glenville, West Virginia, back on Dec. 3. In that game, UVa-Wise stormed back from a 21-point second-half deficit and got within three with 1:42 remaining after a layup by redshirt junior forward
Taiwo Badmus (London, England). Despite outscoring the home team 26-13 in the final eight and a half minutes, the Cavs were unable to complete the comeback as Glenville State hit a pair of layups and made free throws late to secure the win.
The Pioneers sit in eighth place in the Mountain East Conference standings with a 5-10 league record and an 8-11 overall mark. Glenville State is currently on a five-game losing streak and most recently dropped a 74-71 decision to Concord University at home; UVa-Wise defeated the Mountain Lions 98-70 on the road. The Pioneers have played six of their last seven games in Glenville and are beginning a three-game road trip Saturday in Wise. On the season, Glenville State is 4-6 in road contests with its wins coming at Concord (94-90), at Alderson Broaddus (79-76), at Davis & Elkins (92-85) and at Urbana University (87-78).
With eighth-year head coach Stephen Dye at the helm, the Pioneers feature senior Brett Morris who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding. The 6-foot-5 forward is averaging 19.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while dishing out the second-most assists at 3.2 per contest.
The Cavs are 0-7 against Glenville State since joining the MEC in 2013 but four of those contests have been decided by eight points or less.
About UVa-Wise
UVa-Wise is trying to snap a three-game skid after falling 73-63 Wednesday night at West Virginia Wesleyan. The Cavs held a three-point lead in the second half but were unable to pull away before the homestanding Bobcats took back the lead. Trailing by just two with four and a half minutes to go, UVa-Wise was held to without a field goal for the remainder of the game as West Virginia Wesleyan finished the contest on a 12-4 run. Badmus, who is third in the MEC in scoring (21.4 PPG) and fourth in rebounding (10.3 RPG), collected his 10th double-double of the season against the Bobcats with 21 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.
Owning a 3-12 league mark and a 5-16 overall record, the Cavs are currently tied for 10th in the conference standings with West Virginia State. Saturday's matchup with the Pioneers begins a three-game homestand for UVa-Wise as No. 16 Wheeling Jesuit University and No. 3 West Liberty University visit Wise next weekend.

Michal Seals (Lancaster, Pa.) is off to a tremendous start to his collegiate career, averaging 14.4 points, 5.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game in his first year as a Cav.
