The Templeton, Calif. product is averaging a double-double at 19.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Teammate Tara Goldman is nearly posting a double-double with 12.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game as West Virginia Wesleyan is out-rebounding opponents by over two rebounds per contest. In their first meeting, Stewart did not play her abscense was evident. The Bobcats posted just 22 first half points and fell behind 40-22 as Michael Bari's team made just 18 of 58 field goal attempts overall while shooting just 30 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Alle Moore and
Kayla Carey combined for 27 points and 17 rebounds in 39 minutes of play. Moore finished 5-6 from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. During its current two-game winning streak, the Bobcats are averaging 93 points per game while allowing 76.5 points. The strong offensive play is a stark contrast to the rest of the season. Overall, Wesleyan is averaging 71.2 points per game.
About UVa-WiseRoad problems continue for UVa-Wise. The Cavaliers fell behind 29-12 after the opening quarter of Thursday's game and never recovered in a 92-76 loss at Glenville State. The loss was the seventh consecutive road loss for
Kristin Kunzman's team and slipped the club below the .500 mark at 9-10. Desepite the loss, several Cavaliers had strong offensive performances.
Taylor Sandidge scored 16 points and grabbed a season-high seven rebounds from her point guard position while
Makenzie Cluesman drained a trio of 3-pointers en route to 13 points. By making the start Thursday, Sandidge has now played in and started 75 games during her collegiate career at UVa-Wise. The 13 points by Cluesman stretched her streak of double figure scoring games to seven consecutive. If the Cavs are to stop their road losing streak, there may be no better place in the league to give it a shot than West Virginia Wesleyan. Since joining the Mountain East Conference, UVa-Wise is 2-0 in Buckhannon and has outscored West Virginia Wesleyan by an average of 10 points in the two contests. Earlier this year, UVa-Wise dominated the glass against in an 86-57 win over West Virginia Wesleyan, out-rebounding the Bobcats 43-33. The game is the second of a four-game road trip for the Cavs, next week the club will travel to Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty to do battle with a pair of ranked opponents.
