WISE, Va. – UVa-Wise begins a four-game road trip Thursday night with a visit to Glenville State for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
Storylines – at Glenville StateThe Cavaliers and the host Pioneers meet for the second time this season after Glenville State defeated UVa-Wise 84-79 back on Dec. 5 in the David J. Prior Convocation Center. UVa-Wise is 0-6 versus the Pioneers since becoming a NCAA Division II member and joining the Mountain East Conference in 2013.
In the two teams' first meeting this season, the Cavs held a two-point lead with 32 seconds left but the Pioneers' Brett Morris knocked down a top of the key three-pointer with 26 seconds left following a 30-second timeout. Down by one at 80-79 with about 22.5 seconds left, the Cavs had an opportunity to score the go ahead basket but a strong defensive play by Glenville State resulted in a steal by Glenville State's Micah Thomas. Matt Day led the Cavs in the game with a team-high 30 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, it was one of three 30-point games for Day this season.
Currently, Glenville State is ninth in the MEC standings with a 4-10 league mark, sitting one game ahead of West Virginia State and two games behind Shepherd University. The Pioneers have lost eight of their last 10 games including seven of the last eight. Glenville State's four conference wins have come against Shepherd at home (96-91), Urbana University in Glenville (87-80) and in Urbana (103-89), and UVa-Wise on the road (84-79).
Led by leading scorer Sedric Nady (18 ppg), the Pioneers feature two other double-figure scorers in Brett Morris (14.4 ppg) and Jalon Plummer (13.5 ppg). Morris also leads the team in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game and assists at 2.6 per contest.
About UVa-WiseUVa-Wise will be trying to snap a seven-game losing streak Thursday night and is looking for its first MEC win since defeating Urbana University (85-82) in a road game on Jan. 10.
The Cavs are coming off of a 98-76 loss to second-ranked Fairmont State this past Saturday. Down 44-24 after one half of play, the Cavs were only outscored by two points (54-52) in the final 20 minutes of the game against the visiting Fighting Falcons.

Following Thursday night's contest the Cavs will remain on the road and travel to nearby Buckhannon, West Virginia, for a matchup with West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday at 4 p.m.
