Storylines – Notre Dame Game
Notre Dame enters Thursday's game on a three-game win streak while having won 13 of its last 15 games. While reigning Mountain East Conference Player of the Year Martha Nagbe ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 17.5 points per game its fellow senior Lauren Langenderfer that has been the Falcons' go-to player of late. The Lyons, Ohio native was named MEC Player of the Week on Monday after aiding Notre Dame to consecutive victories over Shepherd and Fairmont State. The guard averaged 22.5 points per game in the wins and on the year is posting 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds a game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. Nagbe is adding 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.3 steals per game to form one of the top offensive - defensive duos in the conference.  With four games to play, Katie Hine's club is tied for third place in the MEC and needs just one win over the season's final four games to lock up an opening round bye in next month's league tournament. In its first meeting against the Cavaliers this season, Langenderfer and Nagbe combined for 46 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds and six steals in the Falcons victory.
About UVa-Wise
Kristin Kunzman's team hopes a return to the Prior Center means a return to the smiling side of the scoreboard. The Cavs have won three consecutive home games and are 8-3 in Wise on the season. With four games remaining, UVa-Wise is in a tie for eighth place in the league standings. Teams seeded 5-8 will play at home in the opening round of the MEC Tournament while seeds 9-12 must travel, meaning the final two weeks of the season are important, especially given the Cavs home - road record. In its first meeting against Notre Dame, senior Blair Harding did all she could to get her team a road victory. The Baltimore native scored a season-high 29 points on 11-22 shooting while tying a career-high in assists with seven. To win Thursday, UVa-Wise will have to slow down one of the top shooting teams in the league. Notre Dame's .450 shooting percentage ranks second in the league but the stat is somewhat misleading. If you remove the Falcons' .317 shooting percentage from the 3-point line, the team is making nearly 52 percent of its two-point field goal attempts. Starting Thursday, the Cavs play three of their final four games at the Prior Center.
