Storylines – vs. Shepherd University
The Cavaliers will try to rebound from their worst loss of the season Monday night at Fairmont State. Conversely, the Rams are coming off of their first Mountain East Conference win of the season, a 90-83 home victory over Concord University Monday night. Down 41-36 at halftime, Shepherd scored 54 second-half points to outlast the visiting Mountain Lions.

The Cavs have never beaten the Rams since joining the MEC three years ago, going 0-4 over the past two seasons. UVa-Wise's closest contest against Shepherd came on the road a year ago in late February, dropping a 97-92 decision in Shepherdstown.

The Rams are led by sophomore guard Steffen Davis with 16.9 points per game and sophomore forward AJ Carr at 14.4 points per game. Sophomore guard Skyler Roman (4.9 apg) and Carr (6.5 rpg) lead Shepherd in assists and rebounds respectively.

About UVa-Wise
UVa-Wise gave up 20 offensive rebounds and 33 second-chance points in Monday night's game at Fairmont State. The Cavs have to do a better job on the glass Wednesday against the Rams after being outrebounded by the Fighting Falcons 54 to 27. No UVa-Wise player scored in double figures against Fairmont State as the Cavs were led by sophomore forward Dimitri Sousa and redshirt freshman guard Lashain Matthews, who scored eight points each.

UVa-Wise recent newcomer Leandro Amador of São Paulo, Brazil, made his debut for the Cavs Monday night, seeing game action for 15 minutes while recording two points and two rebounds. The 6'8" forward earned his first field goal as a Cav on a hard take to the basket for a layup. Amador will look to provide the Cavs with some size inside for the remainder of the season, he arrived at the College only a week ago and had only been to six practices before taking to the floor for competition Monday night.

Following Wednesday night's game the Cavs will have a short break before hitting the road again and traveling to Urbana University Sunday for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
