Storylines –Concord Game
Concord comes to to town on an eight-game losing streak. On its most recent homestand, the Mountian Lions dropped two games by an average of 36.5 points per game. Coach Kenny Osborne's team is led by former Chilhowie High School standout Danielle Catron. The Mountain Lions' guard is averaging 14.6 points per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. Nearly automatic at the free throw line, Catron is shooting 80 percent from the charity stripe. In a 65-48 win over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center last season, Concord limited the Cavaliers to 28.6 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers. Playing as a freshman, Catron scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win. Kylie Molisee turned in a double-double for Concord with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. This season, Molisee is averaging a double-double by posting 11.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Averaging just 59.2 points per game, the Mountain Lions rank last in the MEC in scoring offense. At 38.5 percent shooting, Concord is 10th among 12 league schools in field goal percentage. Overall, the Mountain Lions rank in the bottom half of every offensive category in the MEC. Concord is in the midst of playing five of seven games in Athens, W.Va. Along with Thursday's game, the Mountain Lions will  also play a non-conference game at Bluefield State Tuesday.
About UVa-Wise
UVa-Wise will be looking to halt a six-game losing streak Thursday when Concord University visits the Prior Center. A year ago, the Cavaliers dropped two of three games to the Mountain Lions but, Kristin Kunzman's club won the game that mattered most, 77-59 in the opening round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. In the tournament victory, all five Cavalier starters scored 10 or more points led by Taylor Sandidge's 18 points. UVa-Wise has lost each game during the six-game skid by single digits, including a 73-68 loss to Wheeling Jesuit Monday. In that contest, senior Blair Harding led the way for the Cavs by scoring a game-high 17 points. The Baltimore native was joined in double figure scoring by teammates Kayla Carey (14), Taylor Sandidge (13) and Makenzie Cluesman (10). The solid offensive night was offset by a poor performance at the free throw line and on the glass. The Cavs made just seven of 12 free throw attempts and surrendered 13 offensive rebounds in the defeat. One almost certainty those attending the game can count on is seeing backcourt teammates Harding and Sandidge on the floor a lot. The duo ranks second in the league among minutes played between teammates and both rank in the league's top ten in minutes played. Harding is averaging 34.43 minutes per game to rank fifth while Sandidge is playing 34.38 minutes to ranking sixth. The game is  the last three straight at the Prior Center for UVa-Wise.
