About UVa-WiseCoach
Kristin Kunzman's Cavaliers will look to halt a three-game losing streak and a four-game road losing streak at Notre Dame Tuesday. Despite a season-high 24 points from
Kayla Carey and a career-high 18 points from
Allison Ball, UVa-Wise fell 84-78 at Urbana Sunday. Defense has been an issue for UVa-Wise on its current three-game road trip; thus far, opponents are making 47.8 percent of their field goal attempts. The Cavs have also struggled shooting from the perimeter, having made just 26.3 percent of their long range shot attempts. While the team has struggled, juniors
Taylor Sandidge and
Kayla Carey have played their best ball of the season on the trip. Sandidge is averaging 18.3 points per game during the trip while Carey is tossing in 16.7 points a contest. The duo has combined to averge 12.7 rebounds a night as well. In a pair of wins over Notre Dame last season, it was
Blair Harding who led the way for UVa-Wise. The Baltimore native scored a game-high 21 points in a 79-71 win at Notre Dame before again leading all players in scoring with 18 points in a 65-57 win in Wise. By playing 137 minutes over the last three games,
Taylor Sandidge has moved into second in the MEC in minutes played per game at 35.3. Following Tuesday's game, the Cavs return home for three consecutive contests inside the Prior Center.
