SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – UVa-Wise men's basketball wraps up its four-game road trip to start 2016 by traveling to South Euclid, Ohio, for a matchup with Notre Dame College Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
Storylines – vs. Notre Dame CollegeThe Cavaliers take on the Falcons for the fifth time since becoming NCAA Division II members and joining the Mountain East Conference. UVa-Wise is 1-3 against Notre Dame College during that period with its lone win coming in Wise on Nov. 25 of 2013, 74-70.
Most recently the Falcons were defeated in a very close game Sunday evening, falling by two points (99-97) to visiting Concord University. Notre Dame College is led by third-year head coach Tim Koenig, who is 36-37 overall at the helm of the program. The Falcons are averaging 89.2 points per game while giving up 81.7 points per contest. Conversely, the Cavs are putting up 77.2 points per game as opponents are averaging 88.4 points per contest.
Leading scorer and assist man, senior point guard Tyree Gaiter, was an All-MEC second-team selection a year ago and is averaging 23.8 points per game and 7.6 assists per game this season. Sophomore forward Will Vorhees leads the Falcons in rebounding (9.2 rpg) along with freshman forward Ja'Sean Lewis, Vorhees is also second on the team in scoring (20.8 ppg).
About UVa-WiseUVa-Wise is fresh off of an 85-82 MEC road win over Urbana University Sunday evening. The victory was the Cavs' first MEC win since a 77-75 win at the University of Charleston on February 14, 2015. The Cavs will try to win back-to-back conference games for the first time since the 2013-14 season when UVa-Wise beat Urbana (76-48) and Notre Dame College (74-70) at home in late November.

Matt Day scored a career-high 35 points in Wednesday night's 99-94 loss at Shepherd University before sophomore forward
Dimitri Sousa earned a career-high 31 points in Sunday evening's win at Urbana. Sousa made a career-high 13 field goals in the contest, including a career-tying three three-pointers.
Day leads the Cavs with 20.2 points per game and 11 rebounds per contest as the senior ranks near the top of league in several statistical categories. Eighth nationally in rebounds per game, Day has recorded seven double-doubles this season which is 15th-best in the nation. Sophomore point guard
Philip Owens II leads the Cavs in assists with 3.5 per game.
Following tomorrow's game the Cavs will get a three-day break from competition before returning to the comforts of the David J. Prior Convocation Center Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip with West Liberty, the nation's top-ranked team.
