WISE, Va. – After an exciting, 3-0 non-conference sweep of Milligan College last Wednesday in historic Greear Gymnasium the UVa-Wise women's volleyball team will open up Mountain East Conference play against the University of Charleston Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.

The Cavaliers (4-6) will take on the Golden Eagles (4-5) for the second game of their three-game homestand and will be attempting to win their fourth game in a row at home, spanning back to last season.

UVa-Wise won its last game in the Prior Center on Nov. 11, 2014, when the Cavs swept Glenville State, 3-0. The last loss for the Cavs in Wise and at the Prior Center came on Oct. 24, 2014, when they were defeated 3-0 by nationally ranked Wheeling Jesuit.

The Cavs enter tomorrow night's contest having made a total of 433 kills on the season for an attack percentage of .198, while averaging 11.7 kills per set. UVa-Wise has dished out 410 total assists in 10 games (11.1 per set) and recorded 544 digs (14.7 per set).

Opponents have made 438 total kills on the Cavs so far this season with an attack percentage of .169 and 11.8 kills per set. A total of 415 assists (11.2 per set) have been made by opponents in 10 games, along with 542 digs (14.6 per set).

Junior outside hitter
Karley Allen continues to be the staple of Cavalier volleyball this year as she has totaled 157 kills in 10 matches this season, holding an attack percentage of .231 and making 4.24 kills per set. Allen has also led the team defensively with 135 digs on the season at 3.65 per set. The junior is 63 kills away from becoming just the fourth Cav to ever reach 1,000 kills in her career.

Freshman outside hitter
Ciara Kain will look to continue her fine play on offense along with junior middle blockers
Santana Bishop and
Lindsey Tucker. Kain has made 78 total kills on the season at 2.60 per set, while Bishop owns an attack percentage of .274 and Tucker holds an attack percentage of .264 off of 67 kills.

Bishop leads the Cavs in blocking with 22 total blocks (0.59 per set) recorded this season followed by freshman middle blocker
Amanda Auxier with 18 (0.58 per set). In six match starts freshman setter
Chandler Rouse has recorded 255 assists for the Cavs at 9.11 per set.

On the other side of the net the Golden Eagles have tallied 380 total kills on the season, holding an attack percentage of .222 and making 11.5 per set. Charleston has recorded 357 total assists (10.8 per set) and made 439 digs (13.3 per set) in nine matches.

The Golden Eagles have had opponents make 358 total kills so far this year with an attack percentage of .198 and 10.8 kills per set. Opponents have dished out 335 total assists (10.2 per set) on Charleston and tallied 440 digs (13.3 per set) this season.

Charleston is led by Mia Herrod on offense who has recorded 94 kills (2.85 per set) on the season and holds an attack percentage of .295. The Golden Eagles are led on defense by Melissa Reyes, Payton Logan and Shiann White who have each recorded at least 80 digs in nine matches. Payton is averaging 2.89 digs per set, while Reyes also leads Charleston in assists with 171 total (5.18 per set). Jordan Wittekind and Claire Lambert have recorded 17 and 14 aces, respectively, for the Golden Eagles this season.

The Cavs and the Golden Eagles have not played any common opponents so far this year.

Following Tuesday night's match the Cavs will welcome MEC foe West Virginia Sate to Wise Friday night at 7 p.m., closing out their homestand.
