STORYLINES –GLENVILLE STATE GAMEPicked to finish eighth in the Mountain East Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Pioneers seemingly have returned to their winning ways during the 2013-14 season. That season, Glenville State posted a 29-4 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament while averaging 97.2 points per game. This season, coach Charles Marshall's squad is scoring a MEC best 97.4 points per game and has eclipsed the 100-point plateau on two occassions. Most recently, the Pioneers scored a 103-76 league win at Concord Thursday. In that contest, the Pioneers made 15 3-pointers and forced the Mountain Lions into 25 turnovers. Sharp-shooter Kristin DesRocher made five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points. DeRoscher and teammate Brittany Jackson have combined to make 37 3-pointers over the season's first seven games. Paris McLeod ranks 10th in the MEC and leads Glenville State in scoring at 15.4 points per game; four Pioneers are averaging 10 or more points per game. A big reason for the fast start for Glenville State has been the team's ability to force turnovers, opponents have committed 197 turnovers against the Pioneers' pressure. The extra possessions has compensated for Glenville State's do-or-die defense, the Pioneers are allowing the opposition to shoot 43.5 percent from the field thus far. Saturday's game will be the fourth of six straight away from the Waco Center for Glenville State.

Kayla Carey as a pair of six-footers in the starting lineup. The lineup aided UVa-Wise to a 43-33 advantage on the glass in an 86-57 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday. Moore scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Carey chipped in 11 points with nine rebounds. The 86 points marked a season-high for the Cavs who are averaging 76 points per game at home. The game against Glenville State will pit two teams with vastly different playing styles, UVa-Wise is averaging 55.6 field goal attempts per game while Glenville State averages 94 field goal attempts per contest. A year ago, the Pioneers won both meetings in the series but struggled defending Carey. Carey scored 23 points and grabbed 20 points at Glenville State beofre scoring 14 points and collecting 15 rebounds in the meeting in Wise. The game is the final MEC game of 2015 for UVa-Wise, the Cavs finish the year with two non-conference games before returning to league play on Jan. 4th when the team visits Fairmont State.
