WISE, Va. – UVa-Wise men's basketball ends its three-game homestand Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup against Glenville State before having eight days off from competition.

Storylines – vs. Glenville StateThe Cavaliers will try to win their first Mountain East Conference game of the young season Saturday afternoon facing the defending MEC tournament champion Pioneers. Glenville State enters tomorrow's contest on a three-game losing streak, most recently falling to Concord University (103-79) Thursday night on the road. The Pioneers have also suffered a MEC loss at home against Fairmont State (109-93), but defeated Shepherd University (96-91) in Glenville for their lone conference win of the season.

UVa-Wise seeks its first win against Glenville State as the Cavs are 0-4 all-time against the Pioneers. Last season the Cavs were only able to score 57 points in each contest, dropping an 83-57 decision in Glenville before being defeated 75-57 in Wise. Glenville State finished fifth in the MEC regular season standings a year ago but won four straight games in the MEC tournament to capture the title and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Head Coach Stephen Dye is in his seventh year at the helm of the Pioneer men's basketball program, compiling a 74-105 overall record. The Pioneers are led by senior guard Sedric Nady (15.6 ppg), junior guard Jalon Plummer (13.6 ppg) and junior guard Brett Morris. Morris also leads the team in rebounding (6.6 rpg) while Nady leads the Pioneers in assists (2.3 apg). Glenville State is averaging 79 points per game and allowing 84.7 points per contest. Similarly, UVa-Wise is scoring 73.4 points per game as opponents are averaging 85.3 points per game against the Cavs.

About UVa-WiseThursday night UVa-Wise was defeated by a Tanner McGrew led West Virginia Wesleyan team. Senior forward McGrew had a game-high 37 points and 19 rebounds in the 84-62 win over the Cavs. The Bobcats also got a lot of help from freshman guard Fred Brondsted who knocked down seven three-pointers in just 11 attempts to finish with 23 points.

Matt Day is off to an outstanding final season with the Cavs, averaging a double-double with a team-high 17 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game. Day has already recorded three double-doubles in just seven games this season and came within two or three rebounds of a double-double three other times. The Buckhorn, Ky. (Buckhorn H.S.), native has scored 1,088 career points and needs only eight more points to move into 22nd-place on UVa-Wise's all-time scoring list.

Following tomorrow's game the Cavs will have eight days off from competition before heading to High Point, North Carolina, for an exhibition game against NCAA Division I High Point University Sunday, Dec. 13.
