WISE, Va. – UVa-Wise women's volleyball begins a five-match Mountain East Conference road trip to end the 2015 regular season when they travel Athens, West Virginia, to face Concord University Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

The Cavaliers (14-12, 9-2 MEC) enter Tuesday night's matchup tied for third-place in the MEC standings with only two more weeks left of league play before the conference tournament. The Mountain Lions (7-22, 5-6) are currently in seventh place in the MEC standings and are on a three-match losing streak.

In the two school's first meeting this season on Oct. 6, UVa-Wise earned a 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 25-23) victory over Concord inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.

The Cavs are coming off of a 3-1 loss to seventh-ranked and MEC leader Wheeling Jesuit University this past Friday on senior night. UVa-Wise won the second set 25-23 to become just the second MEC-member school to take a set off of the two-time conference champions. The Cavs handed the Lady Cardinals their first set loss since the 2013 season. Â Prior to Friday's match 22 points were the most points any MEC team had scored in one set against Wheeling Jesuit this season.

The Mountain Lions are 6-3 at home and have notched MEC wins in Athens over West Virginia State (3-1), West Virginia Wesleyan (3-1), Glenville State (3-0) and Notre Dame (3-1). Concord has also defeated Glenville State (3-0) on the road. UVa-Wise enters tomorrow night's match with an undefeated MEC road record of 3-0 after picking up wins at West Liberty (3-1), West Virginia Wesleyan (3-1) and Glenville State (3-0).

The Cavs are hitting .190 this season and averaging 12.2 kills per set, 11.6 assists per set and 16.2 digs per set in 26 matches played. Opponents have recorded an attack percentage of .169 on UVa-Wise this year while averaging 12 kills per set, 11.4 assists per set and 15.9 digs per set.

Concord is hitting .146 on the season, averaging 10.3 kills per set to go along with 9.8 assists per set and 14.1 digs per set. The Mountain Lions have allowed opponents to record an attack percentage of .249 and average 13.5 kills per set, 12.7 assists per set and 15 digs per set this season.

Junior outside hitter
Karley Allen leads the Cavs this year with an MEC-best 415 kills and 4.23 kills per set. The Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent H.S.), native is only 19 kills away from moving into third place on UVa-Wise's all-time kills list, which is where Head Coach Kristen Salyer sits with 1,214 career kills. Also ranking in the top 10 in the MEC in digs and service aces, Allen has compiled 383 digs this season (3.91 per set) and 33 aces.

Freshman outside hitter
Ciara Kain is having an outstanding first year with the Cavs, recording 210 kills at 2.44 per set. In her first collegiate season, freshman middle blocker
Amanda Auxier has contributed a lot to the team with 171 kills (1.97 per set) and 66 total blocks.

On defense the Cavs are led by juniors
Erin Lee,
Erin Anderson and
Santana Bishop. Lee has tallied 310 digs on the season (3.16 per set) while Anderson has made 286 (3.62 per set). Bishop has been huge on the blocks for UVa-Wise as of late, registering 70 total this season.

In 22 match starts freshman setter
Chandler Rouse has dished out 906 assists and is third in the MEC at 10.18 assists per set.

The Mountain Lions are led on offense by Alexi Pranckus and Brooke Heck. Pranckus has recorded 250 kills this season at 2.48 per set, while Heck has made 230 kills and is third in the MEC in hitting percentage at .341. Defensively Concord is led by Erin Shannon who has totaled 338 digs (4.02 per set) and Pranckus with 259 digs (2.56 per set). Heck also leads the team in blocks with 67 total recorded this year.
