WISE - - After playing its first 19 games of the season on the road, the UVa-Wise softball team will open the home portion of its schedule on Saturday at 1 pm against Shepherd University.  The doubleheader will be the inaugural Mountain East Conference games at Cavalier Field and the athletic department will celebrate by giving away free t-shirts and "Cavalier Cookies".

The Cavaliers enter the doubleheader with a 13-6 record, including a stretch that saw the club win nine of 10 games earlier this month.  Saturday's games will start a string of six consecutive home MEC games for UVa-Wise.  On Sunday, Fairmont State visits Wise and on Wednesday Concord travels to Cavalier Field.
