The Blue Knights recently ended a 33-game losing streak against California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, and are still looking for their first MEC win in program history. Urbana lost 96-62 at Indiana University-Pennsylvania before defeating the Fighting Scots at home. The Blue Knights were picked 12th in the MEC Preseason Poll conducted by the leagues's coaches. Rodney Clark Jr. has led Urbana in the early going. He leads the team in points scored, 18.5 ppg, and finished 13-15 from the line. Ben Merritt has also played well, most recently turning in a double-double against California (Pa.) when he scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Philip Owens II started his collegiate career by scoring 35 points and handing out seven assists against only one turnover in a double overtime win over Elizabeth City State. Brian Sydnor posted his second career double-double against Elizabeth City State Friday night. The sophomore scored 13 points and added 15 rebounds against the Vikings. The Cavaliers had three players play more than 40 minutes Friday night, led by Sydnor who played 44 of the game's 50 minutes. The Cavaliers were picked ninth in the MEC Preseason Poll conducted by the league's coaches, the team returns two starters in
Charles George and
Matt Day. A year ago, George averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Day posted 12.6 points and 5.8 rebounds a night. Saturday's game is the fourth of six away from the Prior Center to start the season for coach
