Christine joined the UVA Wise Sports Medicine Staff in 2024. She is a native of Los Angeles, Ca. and comes to Wise from the University of Pikeville where she served as an assistant athletic trainer since 2019.
While at UPike, Tchalikian served as the primary athletic trainer for the baseball, football, cheer, volleyball, archery, golf, and dance. Prior to her time at UPike, she served as an athletic trainer for UCLA Club Sports and worked with the Ventura County Pirates Baseball Organization and NBC Basketball Camps. During this time, Tchalikian was responsible for care, prevention, evaluation, and treatment of orthopedic injuries/illnesses for the various participants.
Tchalikian holds a bachelor's of science degree in kinesiology from California State University Northridge and a master's of science degree in athletic training from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. She is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter through the City of Pikeville, Ky.
Tchalikian is BOC certified, is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, is certified in CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, and has completed workshops in kinesio tape and somatic dysfunction and low back pain.
At UVA Wise, she will serve as the primary athletic trainer for the sports of baseball, cross country, and track & field, while assisting with football.
In conjunction with welcoming Tchalikian to the sports medicine staff, UVA Wise also announced a pair of promotions. Emily Atkinson has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Adam Cook has been promoted to Head Football Athletic Trainer.
