The University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics

Nate Mullen is in his first season coaching running backs at UVA Wise. The coach comes to the Cavaliers after spending last season as a graduate assistant with Murray State University, overseeing special teams and offensive quality control duties.

A former student-athlete at UNC – Charlotte and Western Carolina University, Mullen led the Catamounts in receptions in 2018 and served as a team captain in 2019 while starting in all 33 games he played at WCU. With the 49ers he appeared in every game over two seasons while serving as the programs punt returner.

Mullen began his coaching career at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a graduate assistant for two seasons. He worked with the offensive line and wide receivers in that capacity while obtaining a master’s degree in sport management.

A Harrisburg, N.C. native, Mullen earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from WCU in 2019.
