Coach Gould enters his second season as an assistant coach on the UVA Wise football staff. Coach Gould is the Linebackers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, while recently adding the title of Defensive Run Game Coordinator.
He comes to UVA Wise most recently after spending time as Co-Defensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator/Linebackers Coach at Waldorf University. Last season Coach Gould had three linebackers, first team all-conference senior linebacker, Shannen Williams finished the year with 37 solo tackles, assisted on 30, averaging 5.8 per game. He had 4.5 sacks and 4 tackles for loss. Second team Senior linebacker, Thomas Edwards finished the year with 25 solo tackles and assisted on 20, averaging 5.6 per game, and had 1 sack. Honorable mention Keegan Handal, sophomore linebacker, had 26 solo tackles and 22 assists, for a total of 48. He had 1 sack for 16 yards.
Before coaching at Waldorf University, Coach Gould after spending time as a graduate assistant at Western Illinois University working with the defensive. Coach Gould worked with Darius Joiner that finish the year with 79 solo tackles, assisted on 63.
Prior to Western, Coach Gould spent couple years at Quincy University working for Coach Bass. Where he was working on his master's in science of education and coaching linebackers. Coach Gould also help with community involvement.
Coach Gould began his coaching career at Ellsworth Community College coaching the linebackers. Coach Gould had three linebackers, Matt Bigley and Keegan Glaus receiving 1st team all-conference recognitions. Julian Baldi Earned third team NJCAA All-America.
Before coaching, Coach Gould played college football as a Linebacker at Upper Iowa University, where he also graduated with a degree in Exercise Science in 2018. Completing his playing career as a linebacker Coach Gould worked as a student assistant for the Peacocks. Coach Gould is an Iowa native, where he played football and graduated from West branch High School in 2014.
