The University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics

Coach Cannon enters his second season on the University of Virginia- Wise football staff. He will coach the Defensive Backs in addition to his Defensive Coordinator duties. This past season he oversaw a Cavalier defense that showed improvement in Points Allowed, Rushing Defense and overall Yardage Allowed. With nine starters returning the Cav Defense hopes to continue that improvement.

Prior to coming to UVA-Wise, Cannon served a year with Coach Bass at Quincy University. Cannon has experience Coordinating at every level of NCAA football. With stops at Iowa State, Central Michigan, Missouri State, Western Illinois and Austin Peay State University at the Division I level.

Cannon has coached in post-season games at Truman State University, Western Illinois University and Central Michigan University. Cannon has a Masters Degree from Iowa State University and received his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University. He played both football and baseball while at Missouri State University. Coach Cannon is married to Lisa and is a proud stepfather to Joshua.
