Kevin Acciani is in his second season as the defensive ends coach at UVa-Wise. In his first year with the Cavaliers, Acciani was part of a defensive coaching staff that saw its defense finish top 25 nationally in third down defense (13th), defensive touchdowns (15th), tackles for loss (18th) and interceptions (22nd). Overall, opponents posted just over 315 yards per game against UVa-Wise.
In 2016, he served as defensive intern for the Idaho Vandals, In that role, Acciani was part of a defense that improved from 118th to 78th overall in yards allowed per game and from 120th to 40th in overall run defense. The coach was part of a team that went to just the third bowl game in program history defeating Colorado State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Idaho also doubled its sack total from 12 to 24 over the course of that season.
Previously, the coach spent a season at Southeastern Conference member Missouri. He served as the Tigers’ running backs student assistant coach from July 2012 to December 2012.
After his stop with the Tigers, Acciani was an assistant coach for Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri where he was in charge of quarterbacks and receivers across all three levels of the program. The coach installed the freshman offense and was the signal caller for both the freshman team and the junior varsity squad.
The coach is in charge of running drills for both defensive ends and the defensive tackle unit while also breaking down film with players.
