The University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics

Josh Compton is in his third season as an assistant coach at UVA Wise. A Richlands, Virginia native and the son of offensive line coach Mike Compton, Josh Compton will serve as the program’s defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coach this fall.

The younger Compton was all-state in both football and baseball during his prep career at Richlands High School before playing two seasons at NCAA Division II Fairmont State University.

With the Fighting Falcons, Compton started 10 games at tight end and long snapper as a freshman before making the move to linebacker in his second season. From there, he transferred to Emory & Henry College where he earned all-conference accolades while serving as team captain for the Wasps.

After his playing career, Compton spent two years as a defensive assistant for Emory & Henry before coming to UVA Wise.
