Jeffrey Maxwell is entering his fourth coaching season overall and first season at UVa-Wise this fall. Maxwell will serve as the team’s wide receivers coach.
Prior to his arrival at UVa-Wise, Maxwell served as the offensive coordinator at Virginia University of Lynchburg during the 2014 season. Maxwell also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Anderson University (Ind.).
Throughout his career, Maxwell was responsible for coaching several positions including serving as a wide receivers coach, special team’s coordinator, and linebacker’s coach.
During his time at Anderson, Maxwell coached four players that received all-conference honors. He helped the Ravens produce two back to back All-HCAC kick returners between 2012-13 and two linebackers in 2013.
Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Maxwell served as an offensive student assistant for Belhaven University’s football team in 2010 after a successful career as a member of the Belhaven University Football Team.
A native of Mascotte, Fla., Maxwell made significant contributions as a wide receiver and strong safety for the Blazers. Although riddled with injuries two of his four years at Belhaven, Maxwell tallied 57 receptions for 754 yards and five touchdowns his first two seasons as a wide receiver. In 2009, he started 11 games at strong safety for Belhaven and was third on the team with 71 tackles and one interception.
Maxwell earned Dean’s List status and posted the highest GPA on the Belhaven Football team at 3.7. Throughout his collegiate career as a student-athlete, he also received Mid-South Conference All-Academic honors for his educational efforts. Maxwell graduated from Belhaven University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Anderson University Falls School of Business in June 2014.
