The University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics

In his fourth season with the Cavaliers, Brandon Merchant serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach.

A native of Fairhope, Alabama Merchant served as the school’s assistant offensive line coach where he was responsible for the weekly scouting report and assisted in all facets of offensive line play during his first season before coaching the team’s cornerbacks in 2019.

As recruiting coordinator, Merchant helped with the signing of hundreds of student-athletes during his stint as recruiting coordinator.

Prior to arriving at UVA Wise, the coach was an undergraduate assistant at South Alabama where he worked with defensive backs and assisted coaches in preparing weekly game planning.

Merchant graduated from South Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2018.
