Joseph McCown is in his second season at UVA Wise and his first as the program's pitching coach. A year ago, McCown served as the bullpen and outfield coach, while also helping with recruiting and the teams strength and conditioning.Â

The Alcoa, Tennessee native comes to UVA Wise after serving as a graduate assistant at Lincoln Memorial University where he served as the bullpen coach, outfield coach, and first base coach.Â

The second-year coach, was a three-year letter winner at East Tennessee State University where he pitched for coach Tony Skole.

McCown started his coaching career as a pitching coach for the varsity and junior varsity baseball programs at Alcoa High School. From there he served as the pitching coach at Maryville College.Â

In 2013, McCown was the head coach of the Rowan Patriots of the All American Collegiate Baseball League in Salisbury, North Carolina. During his time, he led the Patriots to a league championship while ending the season 24-7.Â

McCown received a bachelor’s degree in sport management from East Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in business administration from LMU.
