BANNER ELK, NC -- The UVA Wise volleyball team stepped out of conference and defeated Lees-McRae 3-1 on Tuesday. After dropping the opening set, the Cavaliers hit .295 with 63 kills and won the final three sets 25-21, 26-24 and 25-22.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- UVA Wise dropped the opening set 25-23 despite holding a 16-15 edge in kills.

Mable James led the Cavs with six kills,
Skye Williams added five and
Maggy Sechrist had three, including the kill that tied the set at 23-23.
- The Highland Cavaliers cut into a 16-7 deficit, including four straight service points on Sechrist's serve to pull within 18-15, before the Bobcats closed out the set.
Second Set
- UVA Wise won the set 25-21 after taking control with six straight points from a 13-12 deficit to an 18-13 lead.
- The Cavs recorded 15 kills, led by Sechrist with six and
Mable James with four, while
Olivia Amos assisted on 12 kills.
- After the Bobcats closed within 20-18, the Cavaliers scored each of their final five points on kills to finish the set.
Third Set
- The Cavaliers won the set 26-24 and recorded 15 kills to the Bobcats' 12, with
Mable James and
Skye Williams posting five kills apiece.
- After falling behind 10-8, UVA Wise scored five of the next six points, including a
Mia Bradley ace and two
Mable James-Sechrist blocks, to move ahead 13-11.
- The Cavs scored the final three points after the Bobcats reached set point at 24-23, with Williams delivering back-to-back kills before
Serina Petersen finished the set with a kill from Amos.
Fourth Set
- The Cavaliers won the fourth set 25-22 to finish off a 3-1 match victory.
- The Cavs recorded 17 kills in the set, led by
Mia Bradley with six and
Skye Williams with four.
- Amos assisted 13 of the Cavaliers' kills, while
Mable James was involved in three block points.
- The Highland Cavaliers moved from a 20-20 tie to set point at 24-22 on a
Skye Williams kill, then closed the set on Bradley's kill from
Abigail Curtis.
GETTING WISE

Mable James led the Cavaliers with a career-high 17 kills, 20.5 points and seven total blocks (she tied her career high for block assists with seven) while hitting .517.
- Amos finished with 47 assists and added eight digs and three total blocks.

Skye Williams recorded 16 kills and 16 points.

Abigail Curtis collected 19 digs and served two aces.
- The .295 team hitting percentage was the highest for a road match this season.
- It was the second straight win in Banner Elk for UVA Wise, who have now won four out of the last five meetings with Lees-McRae
