EMORY, VA – UVA Wise and Emory & Henry met Wednesday afternoon in a mid-week non-conference game on Porterfield-Devault Field, where a late innings surge by the Wasps gave them the 6-5 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise took an early lead in the third inning when
Luke Johnson walked, advanced to third on
Jake Smith's single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Joshua Morgan.
- In the sixth inning, the Cavs extended their lead to 2-0.
Jaden Ruehling was hit by a pitch and advanced on a walk to
Dane Frellick and a bunt single by
Tyler Jones. Ruehling then scored on a sacrifice fly by
Morgan Miller.
- The seventh inning saw the Wasps tie the game at 2-2. J.D. James scored on a throwing error, and Jacob Nester scored on a wild pitch.
- The Cavaliers regained the lead in the eighth inning.
Jaden Ruehling walked, and
Dane Frellick hit a two-run homer to left field.
Morgan Miller later scored on a balk, making it 5-2.
- Emory & Henry answered in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run homer by Jadden Rodriguez, reducing the deficit to 5-4.
- In the ninth inning, the Wasps secured the victory. Jaxon Ehret scored on a sacrifice fly by Jaret Hoppes, and Clay Caldwell crossed the plate on a double by Jadden Rodriguez, sealing a 6-5 win for Emory & Henry.

Logan Delph delivered an impressive performance, pitching 6 innings with just one hit allowed, no earned runs, and four strikeouts, maintaining a WHIP of 0.33.
Jake DeNeef contributed a scoreless inning of relief, facing four batters and not allowing a hit, though he issued a wild pitch.
Julius Sellars faced difficulty in his outing, yielding two earned runs on two hits, including a home run, across one inning.
