WISE – The Highland Cavaliers lost a pair of games Saturday as they had a late rally fall short against Lees-McRae in the first game and Ursuline had a big seventh inning in game two to claim the win over UVA Wise.

GAME ONE – Lees-McRae 11, UVA Wise 10
- UVA Wise recorded three home runs and two triples but couldn't overcome Lees-McRae's five-run sixth inning.
- Lees-McRae started the first inning strong, scoring three runs. A groundout by Allie Johnston scored Taylor Beurrier, followed by an RBI double from Maycee Tickle and an RBI single by Haylea Huffines. Lees-McRae led 3-0 after the first inning.
- UVA Wise responded in the third inning.
Mataya Ausmus doubled and was driven in by a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Clay.
Kaylynn Baker then hit a two-run home run, bringing the score to a tie. Lees-McRae added one more run in their half of the inning with a Johnston home run, making the score 4-3 Lees-McRae.
- In the fifth inning, the Cavaliers took the lead. Baker reached on an error, and
Lindsey Polan hit a two-run homer, scoring Baker. This gave the Cavs a 5-4 lead.
- The sixth inning saw the Bobcats surge ahead with a five-run effort, highlighted by Kierstin Kemper's three-run homer. The Highland Cavaliers answered with two runs of their own. Ausmus tripled to score
Kennedy Miller, and Ausmus then scored on a double steal. The Bobcats maintained a 9-7 lead after six innings.
- Lees-McRae added two more runs in the seventh inning. In the bottom half, the Cavs mounted a comeback attempt. Miller hit a three-run home run, closing the gap, but the effort fell short. The final score was 11-10 in favor of the Bobcats.

Chloe Murphy pitched 5 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 7 batters and walking 2.
Bayleigh Allison contributed with 1 inning of relief, conceding 4 earned runs on 5 hits, including a home run and a triple, while striking out 1.
Jordan Mooney pitched for 2/3 of an inning, giving up 2 earned runs on 2 hits with 2 walks.
Olivia Shockley faced one batter, recording an out on a fly ball.

GAME TWO – Ursuline 13, UVA Wise 5
- UVA Wise opened strong against the Arrows, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Adyson Gibson singled to start, and
Taylor Clay walked.
Kaylynn Baker's single up the middle brought in Gibson, and
Lindsey Polan followed with another RBI single, driving in Clay. At the end of the first inning, the Cavs led 2-0.
- In the second inning, the Highland Cavaliers extended their lead. Gibson singled through the left side, then scored on a double to left center by Clay. This brought the score to 3-0 after the second inning.
- The Cavaliers maintained their lead through the fourth inning, despite Ursuline getting on the board. Ivanney Ramirez tripled and scored on a throwing error, narrowing the gap to 3-1.
- The sixth inning saw the Arrows take the lead, scoring three runs. A double by Holly Earl drove in two, and Heidi Earl's single brought in another, putting Ursuline ahead 4-3.
- In the seventh inning, Ursuline widened its lead significantly with nine runs, including a grand slam by Destiny Ruggiero. This left the Cavs trailing 13-3.
- The Cavaliers responded in the bottom of the seventh with two runs.
Kaylie Ledger walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Sophie Easterly.
Morgan Sutton also scored on a wild pitch, concluding the game with a final score of Ursuline 13, UVA Wise 5.

Olivia Shockley pitched 6 innings for the Cavaliers, allowing 7 hits, 6 earned runs, and striking out 4 batters on 89 pitches. Despite giving up two doubles and a triple, Shockley maintained a WHIP of 1.33.
