WISE – The UVA Wise softball team remained undefeated at home and extended their winning streak to seven games as they defeated Cedarville 13-5 and Charleston 7-5 Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1 – UVA Wise 13, Cedarville 5 – 6 innings
- UVA Wise used a six-run sixth inning, contributing to its 18-hit tally and capitalizing on Cedarville's two errors as they defeated the Yellow Jackets 13-5 in six innings to open Saturday's action.
- Cedarville initially took a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer by Anna Gorshak. UVA Wise responded emphatically in the bottom half with a five-run inning.
Adyson Gibson began with a single, and despite an early out on a fielder's choice, the team capitalized on a Yellow Jacket error to keep the inning alive.
Lindsey Polan,
Kaylynn Baker, and subsequent hitters delivered key singles, with
Savannah Johnson and Kaylie Holt driving in runs. This offensive burst gave the Cavs a 5-2 lead after the first inning.
- Cedarville briefly regained momentum in the second inning, scoring three runs highlighted by a two-run triple from Ella Leonard, which tied the game at 5-5.
- In the fourth inning, the Cavaliers added two more runs. After
Taylor Clay walked, Polan doubled to set up the scoring opportunity.
Taylor Noe's two-RBI single extended the lead to 7-5. The home team's pitching and defense kept the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard, maintaining this advantage through the fifth inning.
- The sixth inning saw UVA Wise break the game open with a six-run outburst. Polan started with a solo home run. The lineup followed with a series of hits, including Noe's double and Johnson's RBI single. The sequence continued with Holt's RBI fielder's choice and a series of hits by
Mataya Ausmus, Clay, and Baker, each contributing to the scoring. This offensive surge sealed the win, with the final score reading UVA Wise 13, Cedarville 5.

Bayleigh Allison pitched for 2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 5 hits, including one home run and one triple, while striking out one and walking one.

- The Highland Cavaliers capitalized on the Golden Eagles' pitching, drawing seven walks and converting 10 hits into seven runs while striking out nine Charleston batters as they grabbed the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the win.
- Charleston took an early lead in the first inning with a run scored on Taylor Hodson's single. UVA Wise responded in the third inning when
Kaylynn Baker's double brought home
Mataya Ausmus and Angelina Gibson, putting the Cavs ahead 2-1 after the third.
- UVA Wise extended its lead in the fourth inning with a trio of runs.
Madison Anglin and Ausmus both hit doubles, with Gibson adding an RBI single. A sacrifice fly from Baker and a bases-loaded walk to
Taylor Noe contributed to the scoring, making it 5-1 in favor of the Highland Cavaliers after the fourth.
- The Golden Eagles mounted a comeback in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to tie the game. Caraline Dunn's two-RBI single and a series of plays, including an error, helped Charleston level the score at 5-5 after the fifth.
- In the sixth inning, the Cavaliers regained the lead. Noe's RBI single and
Savannah Johnson's fielder's choice allowed two runs to cross the plate, making it 7-5 after the sixth. The Cavs' defense held steady in the seventh, securing the win.

Angelina Branch started and pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Branch threw 81 pitches, 51 of which were strikes, and had a WHIP of 2.44.
Chloe Murphy relieved and delivered 2 2/3 scoreless innings, conceding two hits and striking out two while maintaining a WHIP of 0.91. Murphy effectively controlled the game by throwing 26 of 33 pitches for strikes, contributing to a win with an overall record of 2-1.
- Baker led the offense with three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Gibson crossed the plate twice and added an RBI, contributing to the team's scoring efforts. Ausmus also scored two runs, adding a double and a stolen base to the team's total. Noe recorded two RBIs and drew a walk, enhancing the team's offensive output.
