WISE - UVA Wise shot out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back as they routed Emory & Henry 18-3 Wednesday at Carl Smith Stadium. The Highland Cavaliers dominated offensively, outshooting the Wasps 37-6, with
Abby Schrafft having a double brace with four goals and
Logen Davis adding in two goals and three assists.
It was the South Atlantic Conference opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise opened the first quarter with a commanding performance, securing a 7-1 lead over Emory & Henry.
Caitlyn Schultz scored the first goal at 13:39, assisted by
Logen Davis, who also contributed two consecutive goals at 10:10 and 10:01, both assisted by
Kaylea Paterson.
Abby Schrafft and
Issie Brown each added to the tally, with Brown's goal coming at 7:59 following an assist from
Parker Cribbs. The Wasps' Mary Martinez found the back of the net at 7:08, assisted by Justyce Jones, but the home team's early dominance set the pace for the rest of the game.
- The Cavs dominated the second quarter with a series of rapid goals, starting with
Issie Brown's woman-up goal at 13:30, assisted by Davis.
Kaylea Paterson quickly followed with another goal at 13:09, assisted by Schultz, pushing the lead further.
Leslie Clay contributed her first goal of the season at 12:01, with
Evelynn Ihlefeld assisting. Schrafft scored twice in the quarter, at 9:41 and 6:12, each assisted by different teammates, while
Chloe Huston continued to excel with multiple draw controls and an assist. Emory & Henry's only goal of the quarter came from Whitney Holland on a free position shot at 3:25. The half ended with the Highland Cavaliers maintaining a strong 13-2 lead.
- UVA Wise extended their lead over the Wasps in the third quarter with two goals.
Chloe Huston capitalized on a woman-up opportunity at 8:49 to score her third goal of the season. Later, with just 36 seconds left in the quarter,
Mia Potter added another woman-up goal, marking her first of the season, bringing the home team's score to 15. Emory & Henry's Mary Martinez found the net with a free position shot at 4:25, but it wasn't enough to close the gap as the quarter ended with UVA Wise leading 15-3.
- The Cavs expanded their lead over Emory & Henry in the fourth quarter, securing a decisive victory with a final score of 18-3.
Abby Schrafft initiated the scoring in the quarter with a goal at 10:11, assisted by
Olivia Guy, marking her fourth goal of the season. Guy then added a goal at 5:55, her first of the season, further extending UVA Wise's advantage.
Samantha Sobolewski capped the scoring for the home team with a free position goal at 1:48, also her first of the season. The Wasps struggled to maintain possession, with multiple turnovers, while the Cavs effectively capitalized on their opportunities to close the game strong and grab their first conference win of the season.
