GREENEVILLE, TN -- Another year, another UVA Wise women's basketball game at Tusculum with a player scoring over 40 points and breaking a school record in a Highland Cavalier victory. This time it was
Sable Burnside's turn as she poured in 41 points while hitting 17 field goals and setting a new school record for field goals in a game. The Cavs won the game 88-73.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cavs struck first on a basket by
Ella Karst, and the teams swapped baskets for the next few minutes. With the score at 8-7 in favor of Tusculum, a three-pointer by
Sable Burnside sparked a 15-0 Cavalier run over the next 3:22, putting UVA Wise up 22-8. The Pioneers could not get any closer than eleven points for the rest of the quarter.
- The Pioneers made two quick baskets to cut the Cavalier lead to ten to open the second period, but a Burnside trey and a basket from
Caroline Mullins extended the lead back to 15. Once again, TU cut the lead to ten before the Cavs closed out the quarter with a 15-3 run to lead 49-27 at the half.
- The Cavs extended the lead to 24 via the layup by
Makenzie Bremer to open the third quarter. The Pioneers furiously attempted to mount a comeback and cut their deficit to 64-51 with 1:47 remaining, but the Cavaliers had a three pointer by Burnside and a jumper by
Alissa Cheek to krrp the lead at 16 at the end of the period.
- The fourth quarter was similar to the third with the Pioneers attempting to make a comeback and the Cavaliers not having any of it. The lead was cut to 13 with 1:19 remaining in the game, but free throws by Burnside and Burger sealed the victory for UVA Wise.
- The Pioneers were led by Ni'Kiah Chesterfield's 26 points, while Abby Douglas had 14 points and a game-high eleven rebounds.
- Tusculum barely outshot the Cavs 47.4%-45.5% from the field, but the Cavs had a 35.3%-25.0% differential behind the arc. TU won the rebound battle by a 40-38 margin.
GETTING WISE

Sable Burnside had a game in her penultimate outing as she had 41 points via 17-28 shooting from the field, a new school record that breaks the 15 field goals in a game set by Pam Horton vs. Pikeville on Jan. 26, 1983. It also ties for second-most in a SAC game. In addition, Burnside was 4-5 from behind the arc and 3-5 from the free throw line. She also led the team with 10 rebounds and five steals.

Caroline Mullins had 17 points and tied Burnside with five steals as well, while
Ella Karst scored 12 points.
