WISE – Pitching, defense and timely hitting were once again the story for UVA Wise on Tuesday, as the Cavaliers picked up their 12
th win of the season against regional foe King University, 6-5 in 11 innings. The Cavalier defense turned 3 double-plays, committed just one error, and got a walk-off single from
Dylan Foster to defeat the Tornado.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
-King first baseman Michael Starrs homered in the first inning off Cavalier starter
Eli Reece to give the visitors the early lead. Reece would not allow any more runs in his 5 innings of work on the mound, striking out two and allowing just three hits through five innings.
-The Cavaliers answered with a 2-run double by
Evan Stanley in the second inning, and King would never lead again.
-Josh Morgan,
Nick Badgett, and
Gage Miller added RBI's for UVA Wise in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to give UVA Wise a 5-2 lead.
-The Tornado answered with three runs in the eighth inning to tie the game at five, but stranded two baserunners as Cavalier southpaw Michael Hill struck out Truman Roper to end the threat keeping the game tied.
-
Ethan Willis came on in relief in the ninth inning, throwing three innings, allowing no runs on just one hit to earn his first career victory on the mound.
-In the bottom of the eleventh, Josh Morgan reach on a King error and moved up to second after a walk to
Gage Miller.
Dylan Foster then dropped a single in to shallow right field allowing Morgan to come around to score the game-winning run.
-Owen Ambrose suffered the tough-luck loss for King, allowing just the unearned game-winning run to score after 2.1 innings of relief.
