WINGATE, NC – Wingate used a late rally to grab the lead and hold off UVA Wise 67-59 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded baskets until five points from Freshman
Ella Karst gave the Cavs a 12-7 lead. Wingate would rally for a 6-0 lead of their own to lead 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
- As in the first period, the teams traded baskets with neither team leading by more than two points before a
Madison Looney layup gave UVA Wise the 30-28 lead at the half.

Alissa Cheek found
Katlin Burger in the paint for the layup to open scoring in the third quarter, sparking a 6-0 Cavalier run and giving UVA Wise the 36-28 lead with 6:12 left in the third. The Bulldogs rallied back to tie the score at 39-39. The two teams then traded baskets before WU's Aniyah Oliver hit a last-second three-pointer to put WU ahead 46-43.
- The Cavs would rally to tie the game at 50-50 with 7:26 remaining, but the Bulldogs then went on a 11-3 run, eventually pulling ahead by double-digits and holding on for the 67-59 win.
- Anna Baraldi led the Bulldogs with 16 points, with Lia Anderson and Bethel Ekperigha adding in 12 apiece and Oliver scoring 10 points. Kyleigh Bacon and Oliver each led WU with eight rebounds.
