WISE – UVA Wise rallied in the final four minutes to put away local archrival Emory & Henry 77-72 in a South Atlantic Conference matchup Wednesday evening on the Quillen Court.
The win moves the Cavs into a tie for third in the SAC standings heading into the final few weeks of competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise grabbed the early five point lead, only to see the Wasps come back and eventually tie it at 12-12. The teams then traded baskets before E&H took a four point lead. The Cavs came back to tie it. E&H held a 32-31 lead with 2:32 left in the half, but a
Zy'Ever Wingfield three-pointer sparked a 8-0 run by UVA Wise to close out the half. The Cavs led 39-32 at the intermission.
- UVE Wise extended the lead to nine points to open the second half, and a few minutes later a pair of
Evan Ramsey free throws and a basket by
Anderson Cummins extended it to 51-39 with 14:32 remaining. The Wasps then started to chip away at the lead, cutting it to 53-52 only to see the Cavs shoot it back up to seven points. A few minutes later, after cutting the lead to one, the Wasps tied the game at 65-65. A layup by Ramsey and three-pointer by Dean gave then UVA Wise a five point cushion. Emory & Henry would get as close as 70-68 down the stretch, but the Cavs held off the Wasps over the final three minutes to claim the 77-72 victory.
- Emory & Henry were led by Korbin Dixon's 19 points. Gabe Brown had 16 points and five rebounds while Jackson Crawford had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
GETTING WISE

Bradley Dean led UVA Wise with 22 points, seven assists, and four steals.

Lav Cvetkovic' had 19 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.

Evan Ramsey had yet another double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
- UVA Wise out-shot the Wasps 44.1%-41.4%, but trailed in the rebounding by a 47-36 margin.

The team has the weekend off and will next take the court on Feb. 5, when they travel down the Powell Valley to face nationally ranked Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tennessee. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Tex Turner Arena.
