GAFFNEY, S.C. – UVA Wise scored three goals late in the fourth quarter but the rally fell short as #13 Limestone University held on for the 10-8 win Wednesday afternoon.
It was a defensive struggle as the Highland Cavaliers held the Saints, who are ranked thirteenth in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll, to their lowest point total of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise grabbed the 1-0 lead when
Kaylea Paterson scored off the assist from
Abby Stoffelen.
- Keira Martin accounted for all the rest of the points in the first quarter as she scored twice to put Limestone ahead 2-1.

Grace Golatt tied the game up with 12:35 left in the half, but the Saints grabbed two goals over the next five minutes.
- Stoffelen cut the lead to 4-3 with her unassisted goal with 2:08 left, but Limestone scored with 1:26 left to lead 5-3 at the half.
- Only three goals were scored in the third period as Limestone scored twice more before Golatt picked up the brace with her goal from a pass from
Logen Davis.
- The Saints extended the lead to 9-4 only to see Paterson get her brace goal with 9:53 remaining.
- Limestone scored again at the 7:06 mark, but the Cavs answered back with a goal down the stretch from
Mallory Trimble and two more from
Noley Hiller. The Saints then won the ensuing draw and held on for the 10-8 victory.
GETTING WISE
- Stoffelen, Golatt, and Paterson each had two goals to lead the team. Trimble and Stoffelen each had a goal to round out the scoring.
- Stoffelen also had two assists for the game, while Davis and
Issie Brown chipped in an assist apiece.
- Trimble led the team with five ground balls.

UVA Wise hosts Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday as the Railsplitters make the trip up Powell Valley for a 1:00 pm first draw at Beaty-Richmond Field at Carl Smith Stadium.
