WISE – Three home runs by first baseman
Cole Harness, including a record-breaker, highlighted a doubleheader between UVA Wise and Bluefield State Tuesday afternoon at Burchell Stallard Field.
The last home run, a solo shot to right field in the bottom of the seventh inning, was one for the ages as the senior from Coeburn became the program's all-time leader in home runs.

GETTING WISE
- BSU's Peyton Lewis had a day in the park as he led the Big Blues with five hits while also earning two runs and a RBI.
- Harness led the way for the Cavs with four hits, four runs, and six RBI.
Justin Reed had three hits and
DJ Dickson had two hits for the day. Six other Cavs had a hit apiece.
-
Nathan McNelley earned the win for the Cavs in game one and
Jake Taylor recorded the save.
- Harness ended the day with 43 career home runs, surpassing the 42 set by Brad Robbins from 2007-10. One remarkable note is that Harness did it in 148 games, while Robbins took over 180 to reach his mark. Robbins also spread the wealth around as he is the UVA Wise record holder in hits (265), doubles (68), RBI (208), and is tied for third in triples with eight.
- Harness passed Steve Tyler (1999-2002) in RBI today to take over second place in that category behind Robbins. Tyler had 145 RBI for his career.
